BMW Motorrad announces recall for 2022-23 S & M 1000 bikes

Pursuant to NHTSA Campaign Number 22-V752, BMW of North America, LLC, is recalling 951 motorcycles based around their inline-four 999cc engine. The clutch cover bolts were not lubricated properly, which may cause the clutch cover to become loose and leak oil.

The motorcycles affected by this recall were built between 9 May and 10 September 2022 and include:

  • 2022 M 1000 RR
  • 2022-23 S 1000 R
  • 2022 S 1000 RR
  • 2022-23 S 1000 XR

Dealers will replace all 10 clutch cover bolts, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed November 29, 2022. Owners may contact BMW Customer Service at 1-800-525-7417.

Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to nhtsa.gov.
