BMW recalls 340 new S 1000 RRs due to crankcase problem

BMW Motorrad has recalled 340 new S 1000 RR motorcycles due to an oiling issue in the crankcase.  Most of the affected bikes – 110 of them – are in Germany. Another 14, primarily dealer demo units, are in Switzerland.

Only one RR affected by the recall is slated for the US market, and according to BMW NA, that motorcycle hasn’t been sent out to a dealer yet, so there is no major effect on the North American market.

BMW has issued a stop-delivery order for the short term and will be replacing the engines on the affected motorcycles.
