Mac Kirkpatrick: Friend of the Marque

MOA member Mac Kirkpatrick was recently presented the BMW Group and BMW Clubs Friend of the Marque award by Herm Baver, Jr. of Hermy’s BMW, in Port Clinton, Pennsylvania.

The International Council honors outstanding achievement and exceptional dedication by giving outstanding individuals the title Friend of the Marque. This title is awarded to a small, exclusive group of people every year.

Mac has enjoyed involvement with BMW motorcycles for over 35 years, with help and encouragement from his wife Melanie, who also rides. He has ridden over 400,000 miles on R, K and Oilhead BMWs in all 50 US states, Mexico, Canada and Europe, restored an R 90 S, and has a mini museum of immaculate R 90 S, R 100 RS and other motorcycles in his basement. He is pictured riding an R 90 S on the front cover of the book BMW R90S by Ian Falloon, helped with material and pictures of his R 100 RSes for the book BMW R 100 RS by Bill Stermer, and with two friends also on R 80 G/Ses, ridden the TransAmerica Trail.

He has held or helped with rallies at his house and elsewhere for the R 90 S, R 100 RS and R 80 G/S and R 65 LS models. Mac is also president of the Vintage BMW Motorcycle Owners, as well as a longtime member of the BMW MOA, BMW RA, and The Airheads Club.
